...spring?

I am shamed.  Collin noticed this morning that I haven't updated this since last July.  Well.  I will update it just in time for it to stop mattering - we're moving back to New Mexico in a couple of weeks.

As far as exciting news, the move is part of it.  We're shipping our stuff and driving down in Bruce the Car.  I'm fervently hoping Bruce holds it together well enough to at least cross over the NM border.  I'm also hoping we're done with spring snow storms, because - augh.  Driving through Montana and Wyoming during a snow storm is not my idea of fun.

In other news, we're trying to decide what we *must* do before we leave the city.  Collin's paper-writing efforts have halved, as of yesterday (his first paper was submitted to a journal), so we have a bit more flexibility in where we can go when.  Of course, Collin is interested in visiting some restaurants before we leave town.  I'd like to see the conservatory at the zoo (having been thwarted every time I've tried, so far), and the aeronautics museum.  We both love Heritage Park and would like to visit once more, now that the weather is (knock on wood), a bit nicer.  And there's a painting school my watercolor teacher was telling me about, that's supposed to have a nice gallery.

It seems like a lot to cram into the next two weeks, but I have confidence in our ability to complete our cultural bingo card.

Speaking of culture - Vermeer!  We saw a documentary at Eau Claire the other day, part of Calgary's awesome "Doc Soup" series.  It was fascinating.  Called Tim's Vermeer, it followed the experiments of inventor Tim Jenison as he tried to prove whether or not the Dutch painter had used technology - specifically, a camera obscura - to achieve his lifelike results.  It was a fabulous film, and I highly recommend it.
